Madelyn Jones, 90, of Morganfield died at 3:50 p.m., Monday, October 6, 2003 at Methodist Hospital Union County.

Mrs. Jones was a charter member of Northside Baptist Church in Morganfield.

She was preceded in death by her husband Bill Jones in 1962.

Survivors include one son Mark Jones of Morganfield; one sister Myra Graves of Morganfield; two grandchildren Missy McCormick of Robards and Carolyn A. Wedding of Morganfield; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 11 at Northside Baptist Church with Rev. Tom Hancock officiating. Burial will be in the Odd Fellow Cemetery in Morganfield.

Friends may call today, Wednesday, from 4 till 8 p.m. and until funeral time Thursday at Whitsell's Funeral Home in Morganfield.

James Riley "J.R." Mart, 76, of Covington's Convalescent Center, died at 12:18 a.m. Oct. 3 at Jennie Stuart Medical Center following a long illness.

A native of Crofton, Mr. Mart was born May 28, 1927, the son of the late Jewell and Tommie Brasher Mart. He was a coal miner with Peabody Coal Co., and was a member of Trinity gospel Tabernacle, Nortonville, but attended the Voice of Faith Church, Crofton.

He was preceded in death by his wife Nancy Jean Mannahan Mart in 2000.

survivors include six daughters, Tommie Sue Rogers of Louisville, Linda Cook of Corydon, Ind., Donna Patton of Norfolk, Va., Hope Sherman of Morton's Gap, Carla Benbrook of Crofton and Nyoka "Nikki" Mart of Dawson Springs; two brothers, Jewell H. Mart of Crofton and Wilburn Thomas Mart of Evansville, Ind.; one sister Minnie Ruth Morgan of Crofton; 23 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Sunday, Oct. 5, at Hughart and Beard Funeral Home in Crofton. Burial was in the Ridgetop Cemetery.

James J. Boyd, 49, of Reno, Nev., formerly of Morganfield, died at 1:31 p.m., Sunday, September 28, 2003 in Reno.

Jimmy Joe was a federal inspector at the airport in Reno.

Survivors include his mother Elizabeth S. Boyd of Morganfield; one sister, Cindy Vittitow of Morganfield; one niece Lamanda Thompson of Pittsburg, Ky.; one nephew, Adam Thompson of Madisonville; an uncle, Ben B. Stockton Jr., of Morganfield; and an aunt Mrs. J.R. Stockton of Huntsville, Ala.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, Oct. 7 at Whitsell Funeral Home in Morganfield with Father Gerald Baker officiating. Burial was in the St. Ann Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or to the Diabetes Association.

Nola Catherine Thompson, 66, of Clarksville, Tenn., formerly of Union County, died September 30, 2003.

Mrs. Thompson was born Oct. 24, 1937 in Union County and had lived in Clarksville, Tenn., for 40 years.

She was preceded in death by her parents Claude and Sissy Girten; one sister, Barbara Thomas; and one brother Jerry Girten.

Survivors include her husband John G. Thompson; one daughter Stacy Thompson Howell of Cadiz; one son, John G. Thompson Jr.; one grandson, Brandon Howell; two sisters, Rita Duncan of Uniontown and Debi Corbin of Clarksville, Tenn.; four brothers, Bill Girten of New Jersey, Doug Girten of Waverly, Ronnie Girten of Cadiz, and Steve Girten of Morganfield.

No funeral or visitation is planned.
