Emma Marie Gray, infant, of Smith Mills, Ky., died Saturday, September. 27, 2003 at Deaconess Women's Hospital in Evansville, Ind.

Survivors include her parents Jayme Carr and Jonathan Gray of Smith Mills; one brother Trevor Lane Newcom of Smith Mills; paternal grandparents, Tammy and Roy Gray of Morganfield; maternal grandparents, Calvin and Benita Babb of Smith Mills; great-grandparents, Evelyn Buckman of Morganfield; Bernard and Juanita Blanford of Smith Mills; and Rev. Clyde and Faye Babb of Robards; one cousin; and aunts and uncles.

Graveside services were held Monday, Sept. 29, at Smith Mills Cemetery in Smith Mills with the Rev. Don House officiating.

Benton-Glunt Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Martha I. Blackburn, 52, of Evansville, Ind., died Saturday, September 27, 2003 at St. Mary's Medical Center in Evansville, Ind.

Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Darrell Graham of Morganfield; one son, John Clevenger of Evansville; two grandchildren, Cody and Casey Sadler, both of Morganfield; and a brother, Harold Majors of Newburgh, Ind.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, October 4, at the home of Linda Graham, 542 Lynn Road, Morganfield.

James C. Mosley, 76, of Dekoven, died Thursday, September 25, 2003 at 1 p.m. at his residence.

Mr. Mosley, a World War II veteran, was a retired coal miner and coal truck driver and enjoyed talking on his CB and was known as Poor Boy.

Survivors include four daughters, Bonnie Blackburn of Sturgis, Tammy Hunter and Carlene Long, both of Morganfield and Barbara McManus of Paducah; five sons, David Mosley of Sturgis, Larry and William Mosley, both of Dekoven, James Edward Mosley of Evansville, Ind., and Jimmy Mosley of Chaffee, Mo.; two sisters, Velda Frost of Morganfield and Hershelene Ogelsby of Henderson; two brothers, George and Lewis Mosley, both of Dekoven; 38 grandchildren; and 32 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Saturday, Sept. 27 at Whitsell funeral Home in Sturgis with burial in the Old Bethel Cemetery in Union County.

Memorial contributions can be made to St. Anthony's Hospice.

Billie Jean Houdeshell, 69, of Celina, Ohio, formerly of Morganfield, died at 7:55 a.m., Thursday, September 25, 2003 at her residence.

Mrs. Houdeshell was co-owner of The Blockyard in St. Mary's, Ohio. She enjoyed cooking, crocheting, knitting, working crossword puzzles and spending time with her family.

She was a member of the Church of Visitation and its St. Anne's Society in Eaton, Ohio.

She was preceded in death by her first husband James Potter in 1972, a brother Kenny Carrier in 2002 and her parents Shirley and Lorene Carrier.

Survivors include her husband Glen Houdeshell; two daughters, Barb Potter of Muncie, Ind., and Sherrill Blakeman of Eaton, Ohio; one son, Rick Potter of Eaton; one sister, Janet Hartman of Cincinnati, Ohio; two brothers, Wayne Carrier of Morganfield and Mike Carrier of Waverly; one sister-in-law, Dianne Carrier of Morganfield; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild; five stepdchildren; 14 step-grandchildren; and six step great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Monday, Sept. 29, at Whitsell Funeral Home in Morganfield with burial in the Odd Fellow Cemetery.

James Carroll Bumpus, 75, of Dixon, died Tuesday afternoon, September 23, 2003.

Mr. Bumpus was born in Webster County, April 13, 1928. He was a member of the Lions Club and was retired from Construction Products in Henderson as a travel lift operator.

he was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church in Providence.

He was preceded in death by his wife Edith Bumpus in 1996.

Survivors include one daughter, Ellen Berry of Dixon; seven sons, Jason, Steve and Jerry Bumpus all of Clay, Jim and Jeff Bumpus of Dixon glen Bumpus of Marion and David Bumpus of Sebree; three brothers, John Billy Bumpus of Charlotte, N.C., Denny Bumpus of Henderson and Larry Bumpus of Dixon; three sisters, Peggy Shoulders of Henderson, Mildred Sigler of Frandkfort and Betty Chandler of Chicago; 13 grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one step-great-grandchild; and nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held Friday, Sept. 26 at Townsend Funeral Home in Dixon with Father Paul Powell and Rev. Darrell Millhouse officiating. Burial was in the Oak Grove Cemetery in Dixon.

Frances Ford Lofton, 88, formerly of Morganfield, died Friday, September 12, 2003 at Heritage Healthcare in Naples, Florida.

Frances was born February 1, 1915 in Uniontown to Ty and Minnie Ford. She was a longtime resident of Morganfield, residing for nearly 50 years on East McElroy Street. A devoted member of the First Baptist Church of Morganfield, Frances was very active in the organization and operations of the church and frequently taught Sunday school and sang in the church choir.

She played an integral part in creating and leading the ladies group "Busy Bees" which met weekly at the youth center throughout the 1960s. She also taught swimming to the ladies group during the summer months.

She along with her husband Arlynn owned and operated the Red Door Antique Shop during the 1970s.

Frances was a voracious reader, avid antiques collector, talented gardener, and skilled artist. Her unwavering faith in God, enthusiasm for life, sharp wit, strong mind, and insightful conversations will be greatly missed.

She was preceded in death by her husband Arlynn in 1984; three brothers George, Taylor, and Jesse Ford; and two sisters Grace McBride and Myrtle West.

Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law Jo Anne and David Brown; one sister, Mrs. Muriel Cates; and grandchildren, Jennifer Brown, Jeremy Brown, Dru Perkins and Layne Perkins, all of Naples, Florida, David Brown and wife Kris of Atlanta, Georgia; and one great-grandson, Kyle Perkins, of Naples, Florida.

Funeral services were held Monday, September 15, in Naples, Florida. Graveside services were held Wednesday, September 17 at the Odd Fellow Cemetery in Morganfield.
