MORGANFIELD -- Peyton Heady, 80, died at 2:05 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 10, 2006, at his home here.

He was the Union County historian who had written 25 books. He was a member of United Methodist Church in Morganfield.

Survivors include his wife, Cecelia Heady; one daughter, Becky Gough of Morganfield; one son, Jimmy Heady of St. Augustine, Fla.; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at United Methodist Church. The Rev. Garland Hawkins will officiate. Burial will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery in Morganfield.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Whitsell Funeral Home in Morganfield and after 9 a.m. Monday at the church.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to United Methodist Church or St. Anthony's Hospice.
